On a cold winter's night, a stranger stumbles into a tavern in the midst of a horrific blizzard pleading for help for his family stuck in the outskirts of town where no one dares to go—especially at night. Fore, just beyond the treeline lays a beast that's been dormant for centuries.
And it's about to be awakened.

Joseph McGee is a young writer who shows great promise. He has a lot of heart and it's well represented in his writing. A writer who is aware of his surroundings and who takes you on a ride through his imagination. Characters so real, you could feel them breathing next to you.

What is great about this work is he finds a way to speak to the reader. You feel as if you are witnessing everything and the author is talking to you as you fall into the story. I purchased the story never having read any of his works and he has made me a fan...
...definitely worth a read, he will only get better.
—Roberto Carlos Martinez, author of The Blue-Eyed Monster Dragged Me Into Love

Excellent Work! You managed to make the blizzard itself seem like a malevolent character… I believe you captured the New England winter quite well. All of the characters were engaging, although I would have liked more information on "Greer," but that's just the villain in me.
You've got to keep doing this, I expect a short story from you at least once a month! You've got a real talent, Mr. McGee!

[In the Wake of the Night]Interesting. You've got me wondering what is going to happen next.

I read All I Could Do Is Watch and I absolutely loved it. I love the characterizations and the sense of dread within the character.

...great young writer with new talent. A future master of horror fiction.

[Excerpt from The Change] Well, seems MySpace is good for something after all! I am always looking for new horror writers to read as I've exhausted all the "well known" authors. After reading a sample of your writing I'll look forward to reading your already published book and hopefully many more to come!

I met Mr. McGee at a signing last week, and let me tell you: he's an amazing writer. My son is just about the same age and he doesn't even like to read a book, let alone write one. With talent and drive like this, it's safe to say he's heading to the top - and in 20 years, I wouldn't be surprised if he could be on a scale with Stephen King.

This guy is driven, and damn professional in his approach to his work. He's going to go places if he keeps it up.

You are an awesome author, man. You have made a fan out of me. I'll follow your career with anticipation.
—Matthew J. Leverton, member of Horror Authors United

I first read the first chapter on his web site and on his MySpace page - it was fantastic, enough to make [me] go buy two copies of it (one for me and a friend). It was an awesome read. I was unaware he would be at a signing near me (Boston area) or I would've been there without a doubt. He is simply one of the [best?] writers I've read in a long, long while.

February 2, 2008

While I took three weeks of in January for some downtime, I ended up working on a collection of shorts that I will present exclusively for the Amazon Kindle, a new electronic reading device that is, quite frankly, a promisign new gadget jast has the DVD was many years ago, as high-definition radio and television is right now.
The expected release is mid-February, exclusively on Amazon.com.

I'm working with Magus Press on n umerous projects, and I'm very lucky to have such a strong working relationship with the publisher - and owner - David Montoya, who is showing such promise as to be the next best thing in specialty presses, and I fully support him and Magus Press.
One of these projects is of course The Reaper coming out in April 2008; another project is Winter Frights, a antholgy. Right now, I'm not at liberty to give a list of the roster of authors joined in with wonderful collection, but I can say that it is full of major talents; Bram Stoker award-winners and bestsellers.
The slated date for this project is in November. I have not received markups of the cover yet, but I will reveil it as soon as I get it!

On other breaking fronts, I will be writing a little article on MySpace.com, an article about the importance of small book stores and small presses alike. This will be a must read for the beginning writer and the book lover in us all. Please stay tuned for that.
This artle, however long, I will make it available everywhere I can.

My bookstore here on my web site offers pre-orders of The Reaper and soon, Snow Hill. Each of these items, when pre-ordered only, will come with a special signed, rare bookflat; Snow Hill will come with a signed bookflat and bookmark, both at no additional cost to you, Dear Reader.

After Snow Hill was slightly moved from June to a July release, I will be starting my book signing timeline, and I will try to see if I can get some special guests to follow with me; perhaps a good friend of mine or a Massachusetts native as well. We'll see. I also have some other plans that you, Dear Reader may like, such as group signings, special appearences, etc.

I will try my hardest to make it to the New England states; from Maine to Rhode Island, but I won't know until I gatehr more information.

Let me catch you all up to speed on some projects I'm working on at the moment:

Phil's Place III
Two movie scripts
One TV Pilot

A Serial novel. Though it's not set up yet, it might just be exlusive to Amazon.com's new toy, The Kindle. It's a new gadget that has been sold completely out as if right now, but more are being made and will be available shortly, I hope. This serial (and this is just an idea, nothing solid whatsoever) should be 8 parts long, lasting about 10,000 words each, give or take. The price is going to be $1.50 per piece. I'm aiming to have the first one set out by June 2008, but we'll see if I can keep to that or not.

Dead Winter, a novel
And much, much more.

I will be in another two anthologies that should be available somewhat close together - Winter 2008. I will, as always keep you posted of releases.

That's it for now.
Enjoy! And please keep tuned to my MySpace
